The three essentials
A fresh cut.
Water every day.
Somewhere cool.
Before you bring it home
A fresh cut is the first step to a happy tree.
- We trim the base at the farm to help your tree take up water.
- Measure your room and allow space for both the stand and your topper.
- Bring a blanket to protect your car. Our team can help with loading.
The first 24 hours
Get your tree into water as soon as possible.
- If needed, make a fresh 2–3cm cut across the base before placing it in a water-holding stand.
- Use a reservoir stand with plenty of room for water; check the level regularly on the first day.
- Keep the cut end of the trunk below the water level.
A tree can drink 1–2 litres in its first day. Keep an eye on the water.
Find its perfect place
A cooler spot helps your tree stay looking its best.
- Keep your tree away from radiators, fireplaces and other direct heat sources.
- Allow room for the branches and make sure your stand is stable.
- Choose LED lights, which run cool.
A little care, every day
Make checking the water part of your Christmas routine.
- Check the reservoir every day, and more often in the first few days.
- Keep topping it up with clean water. Never let the level fall below the base of the trunk.
- Enjoy your tree, and keep its place away from direct heat.
After the festivities
When the decorations come down, give your tree a second life.
- Remove all decorations, lights and the stand before recycling.
- Ask us about farm returns, or check local collection arrangements for the current season.
